From food truck to lodge

We started as a picnic-basket food truck on Route 36, parked just before Tiny Town Miniature Golf. People kept asking where they could sit down.

So we moved into Expedition Lodge and became a full kitchen — the same welcome, now with a dining room that looks straight at the range. We're on the way in and out of Rocky Mountain National Park, so breakfast runs all day and the sandwiches wrap up to travel.

The Kissing Moose Saloon

When breakfast turns into evening, head up to The Kissing Moose Saloon on the second-floor deck — cocktails, local beer and wine, green chile nachos and elk brats, and S'mores out on the Longs Peak patio.

Life is Sweet — Savor It!

The Kissing Moose Cafe shares a kitchen with Mountain Berry Bakery — Vicki Haan's bakery and catering company, with a retail shop on the Estes Park Riverwalk. Scones, cookies, hand pies, cakes, and pies by the slice.

Good to know

Quick answers before you visit.

Where are you, and is there parking?

We're inside Expedition Lodge at 1701 North Lake Avenue, on the north side of Lake Estes. Park free in the lodge lot, come in through the lobby, and follow the signs to the cafe — it's step-free from the lobby.

What are your hours?

Open every day, 6:00 AM to 2:00 PM. The full breakfast and lunch menu is served the whole time we're open.

Do you take reservations?

We don't take reservations for regular dining — just come in and our host will seat you. For large groups, catering, or a private event, send us the details through the Catering page and we'll follow up.

Can the food be made gluten-friendly?

Many dishes can, and they're marked on the menu. Our kitchen does handle gluten, so if you're sensitive to cross-contact please let your server know.

Can I get my order to go?

Yes — the whole menu is available for takeout, and the sandwiches wrap up well for the drive into Rocky Mountain National Park. For a large to-go order it's fastest to call ahead.

Is there a kids' menu?

Yes. The Kissing Moose Kids menu has breakfast plates and lunch plates at $8 — see the “Kids” section on our menu page.

Can I bring my dog?

We're not able to allow pets inside. Trained service animals are always welcome.

Is there a bar?

Yes — The Kissing Moose Saloon is upstairs, on the second-floor deck at Expedition Lodge: cocktails, local beer and wine, and a bar-food menu. Open daily 3:00 PM to 10:00 PM.

Do you cater events?

We do. The catering and event menu is on the Catering page — send us your date, headcount, and what you have in mind.
